Welcome to My Friendship & Emotional Skills-Building Classes!
When children have frequent emotional outbursts, it can be a sign that they haven’t yet developed the skills they need to cope with feelings like frustration, anxiety, and anger. Our classes are designed to teach children essential social and emotional skills.
Friendship-building
Has your child ever felt really big emotions but didn’t know how to communicate them in a positive way to others? Learning to communicate our feelings positively is something that takes time and practice. This class teaches children how to express their feelings through words, note-writing, body language, charades, and smiles. Children will be given opportunities to practice what they've learned using group craft activities, and group play.
Conversation Starters
Friendships are important to children. If your child is having a hard time making friends, there are ways we can help them make friends. In this class, children will learn how to start conversations, share their interests, listen to other's interests, and respond to their peers' moods. This class is strongly rooted in play. Children will enjoy practicing their friendship making skills using engaging physical play, and activities.
Positive Problem-Solving
Critical thinking, self-control, planning, persistence, and reasoning skills help children solve problems and make good decisions. This class will teach children how to express problems in their own words, how to consider different solutions, and how to find helpers. Role-play, activities, and group games will provide opportunities for children to practice their new skills and overcome challenges.
